We believe that every man desires a personal center that spreads beyond his personal sphere. Social norms have changed and continue to change. Each generation, each culture, each ethnicity, each class possesses different ideas of what constitutes manhood, and oftentimes those differing ideas seem to have nothing to do with each other.

We believe that honorable social interactions naturally ground us in a sense of community and that community creates the support we need to express ourselves truthfully.

Men face unique personal challenges in the 21st Century.

SMMA Group has a vision of diverse men finding their authentic selves through the practice of social connection that does not distract us from reality. We recognize ourselves in others and thereby develop a natural sense of compassion, honor and mutual respect.

SMMA Group does not seek to dictate what any man should or should not enjoy, but the distractions we eliminate include alcohol, drugs, spectator sports, and traditional dating/mating rituals. Our objective is to interact honestly, clearly and respectfully about what is true for each of us, to see the commonality and respect the differences that make each of us unique.

SMMA Group is not a religious organization, nor is it a 12-step recovery group, therapy group or meditation group. We do not espouse any particular political position. We have a simple philosophy: men want to experience connection with other men and can find meaning in a sense of community with other men, eliminate much of the interference preventing us from accepting who we really are, and learn to feel safe to be who we really are.

SMMA Group is a 501(c)(7) nonprofit organization, incorporated in the State of Washington and based in Seattle.

App Privacy Policy

The following Privacy Policy applies only to mobile applications (“apps”) used by staff and volunteers at Rain City Jacks events.

RCJ Screen

Information about the device or the volunteer or staff member using the app:

• No information is collected.

Information about members who attend an in-person event:

• The RCJ Screen app is used to verify that each membership is current, that members have previously provided us with proof of required vaccinations, and have signed any required legal waivers. This information is already recorded in our database, and the app is only looking it up. The app uses legal name and date of birth from each member’s photo ID to look up their record in our database. The app does not save this information or any other information about any member.

RCJ Entry

Information about the device or the volunteer or staff member using the app:

• A shortened version of the device’s “Vendor Identifier” is used as part of the log filename. No information is collected about the person using the app.

Information about members who attend an in-person event:

• The RCJ Entry app is used to verify membership status, calculate event fees, and complete the event check-in process. The app uses a member’s legal name and date of birth from their photo ID to look up their corresponding record in our database. The app records the member’s name, date of birth, event fee, and the fact that they have attended the event. This information is necessary for financial auditing, for contact tracing in the event of an outbreak, and for complying with the legal requirements that Rain City Jacks must obey, including age restrictions on our events. After any event is audited, information captured from photo IDs is deleted, generally in 30 days or less.

We are collecting your data for several reasons:

• To administer membership in our private club.
• To verify personal information members provide voluntarily.

• To contact you to fill out surveys.
• To provide information of importance to our members.
